Charm Squares

Members of the guild that wish to participate in an exchange of Charm Squares  have a great opportunity to do so. This is a great way to get fabric that you  can use in so many ways. They make great charity quilts;  they are great for folks that applique and want an easy way to get just a little bit of a certain  color;  they make great scrappy quilts; the list goes on and on. Listed below are the guidelines and fabrics for 2008.  Adrienne Dildine has done a wonderful job and keeps coming up with new, inovative ideas!

1. A one-year commitment is expected to participate - - - from January through December.  Please notify the chairperson one month in advance if you plan to drop out.  New members can be added during the year.

2. If you are unable to attend a meeting, send your fabric squares by  a friend, bring to an earlier meeting, or bring to the next meeting. *

3. Use only good quality 100% cotton fabric - - - no blends.  Golden  rule for fabric exchanges:  If you wouldn’t want to receive it, then don’t give it.

4. Wash and iron the fabric prior to cutting.

5. Cut size a GENEROUS 6” square.

6. Cut --- DO NOT TEAR --- with the fabric grain.

7. Information about the fabric choice and the number of squares needed will be posted in the monthly Needle Notes newsletter as well as being  announced at the meetings.

8. If you cut your fabric ahead of time, please reserve a small  amount (two or three squares) in case new members are added.

*** You are allowed to cut all of your squares for the year and bring  them to any meeting, thus fulfilling your commitment.  Just remember to keep a  few in reserve as mentioned in #8
