Community Service

These are examples of some of the community service work that we do. We make over 100 stockings each year. Sometimes Boy Scout or Girl Scout troops will fill the stockings and give them to residents at local nursing homes or shelters.  The quilts go to a variety of organizations from nursing homes, homeless shelters, Shelter House for battered women and children, The Children’s Advocacy Center, and other needy facilities. The guild also makes several donataions each year, either supplies or cash, to the Sharing and Caring (local food bank). Some of the greatest times are seeing our family of guild members come together to help others in our communities.

On January 14, 2010, the Community Service Chairperson presented The Manor at Blue Water Bay with 27 lap quilts for the residents.

These are quilts for people in wheelchairs.  These are some of the ones made at the October 22, 2009, workshop.

The wheelchair quilts were presented to Lucy Martin, R.N., of the Eglin AFB VA Clinic.

Community Service Chairperson and some willing volunteers sort through the quilts, stockings and other projects for charity.
