December Block

Each year, the guild has a December Block Exchange.  The guild member “in charge” that year decides on the block that will be used. Guild members sign up and receive detailed instructions on making the block.  The number of members that sign up for the Block Exchange determines the number of blocks to be made. For example, if 9 members sign up, each will have to make 9 blocks. This year, 2007, there are 32 members of the exchange. Each will make 12 blocks. The blocks are turned in to the leader no later than the November guild meeting. The Block Exchange Leader then divides them into 32 sets of 12 blocks each.  Each member of the exchange will receive 12 blocks at the December meeting.   These are usually 12” finished blocks, which make up a nice size throw quilt.
